Sportpesa Premier League giants AFC Leopards have raided cash strapped Rayon Sports of Rwanda and snatched two of their finest as they seek to rebuild before the second leg of the Kenyan top league starting July 2.
Prolific Malian striker Ismaila Diarra whose contract ends in July and full back Emmanuel Manishimwe, a free agent, have all agreed to cross over to the den by the conclusion of the on going “Azam Rwanda Premier League” season.
“Diarra has penned a year and a half deal while Emmanuel has signed a two year contract with us.” Leopards Head Coach Ivan Minnaert confirmed to Soka25east.com.
Rayon Sports, currently third on the league standings, have five matches left to the end of the current season; the league takes a break to pave way for “Peace Cup” till July 4.
Rayon failed to train today at FERWAFA ground in Kigali as players are on a go slow protesting unpaid salaries and allowances. The community club sponsored by “Skol” is currently undergoing a lean financial period as they are believed to be servicing a loan.
24-years Diarra played under Ivan Minnaert at Djoliba (Mali) before moving North to Morocco’s Shabab Atlas Khenifra; they reunited this year at the Nyanza based Rayon in February when the poacher signed a six month deal – before Ivan left him for Leopards in Kenya. The player who has 13 league goals to his credit thus far has also played for Azam FC in Tanzania.
21-years Emmanuel on the other hand joined Rayon from national division one side SEC.
The duo adds “Ingwe’s” signings to five in the on going mini June transfer window which ends on July 2 – others are; Charles Bruno,Harun Nyakha and Yusuf Suf.
