Rayon Sports of Rwanda have confirmed negotiations with Gor Mahia full backs Karim Nzigiyimana and Abuba Sibomana for a possible reunion.
“It’s true we are in negotiations with them, and we are hopeful of concluding the talks soon. If anything we will let you know,” Denis Gacinya, Rayon Sports team manager told Soka25east.com.
However, the 15-times Kenyan champions have dismissed Gacinya’s assertions as mere rumors.
“We are finalising on signings, and soon we will let you know who is in and who is leaving,” K’Ogalo’s new Secretary General Ben Omondi responded.
The duo joined Gor Mahia from the Nyanza based outfit early 2015 – winning the league unbeaten, and reaching the CECAFA Kagame Cup final same year.
2016 season was nonetheless low key for Abuba who found little play-time, with sensational Kenyan international Eric “Marcelo” Ouma confining him to the bench.
The signing of fellow Rwandan Jean Baptiste Mugiraneza from Azam FC in December 2016 sounded alarm bells on his future at “the green army”; with rumors flying he could be sacrificed to satisfy the KPL foreign-player quota which stands at five.
K’Ogalo already have Meddy Kagere, Godfrey Walusimbi, Jacques Tuyisenge as foreigners within their ranks.
Both Karim and Abuba are free agents having seen through their contracts. Known as tight buddies, where one lands next may highly determine the others destination.
They have also been linked with a move to Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
Meanwhile, Gor Mahia head coach Ze Maria is expected back Wednesday 4 to kick-start pre-season.
