Newly appointed Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas has officially received his South African work permit and will be on the Chiefs bench when they take on defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the season opener on Saturday at Loftus Versfield Stadium.

Solinas was appointed Amakhosi new coach replacing Steve Khomphela ,who resigned in April on a two year deal.

The Italian mentor watched the pre- season games against Mamelodi Sundowns and Cape Town City on the stands because of the work permit but Chiefs confirmed that he has received it.

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain who was in charge of the team in pre-season games will resume his duties as an assistant to Solinas .

The 50 year old coached several clubs in Algeria ES Setif,JSM Beljala,CR Belouzdad, and MC Oran he also managed AL Feisaly Fc in Saudi Arabia.He had two previous stints in the Premier Soccer League with Free State Stars.
