Mali staged a stunning comeback to beat Saudi Arabia 4-3 in a seven goal thriller at the Gdynia Stadium on Tuesday night in the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup.
It was Saudi Arabia who struck through Feras Albrikan just after 9 minutes to take advantage of loose marking in the Mail defense.
Hassan Altambakti doubled Saudi Arabia’s advantage in the 20th minute from the penalty spot which was awarded for a foul in the box following a VAR review.
Mali pulled one back just before the break, Saudi Arabia’s goalkeeper Abdulrahman Alshammari with a loose ball which gifted Sekou Koita with an easy shot into an empty goal.
Mali eventually got back on terms with a 54th minute goal through Ibrahima Kone. Saudi Arabia regained the lead through Khalid Alghannam, whose looping effort caught goalkeeper Youssouf Koita off his line
