The Egyptian FA have announced on Saturday that Romanian referee Radu Marian Petrescu will officiate Egypt’s Cup final game between Zamalek and Pyramids FC scheduled for Sunday.
Pyramids FC have requested on Thursday a foreign referee for this crucial game that is their first ever major final.
The 36-year old official, who became a FIFA international referee in 2012, has most recently led the Champions League 2nd qualifying round game between Ferencvaros of Hungary and Valletta of Malta last August. In June he officiated a Euro 2020 qualifier between Ireland and Gibraltar.
During his 7-year of international career he has never been in charge of a major game mostly officiating qualifying rounds in the Champions League or groupstage games in the Europa League.
The Egypt Cup final game between holders Zamalek and rising powerhouse Pyramids FC will be played at Alexandria’s Borg El-Arab stadium in attendance of 20.000 fans.
