SportPesa Super 8 Division 1 side Rongai All Stars thumped Angola FC from Kamukunji 7-1 in the curtain raiser of the Sportpesa Super 8 League at Camp Toyoyo on Sunday 7.
The three points catapults the Langata based team to the top of the Division 1 table, pending midweek matches.
Rongai swang into action from the blow of the first whistle, dictating the pace of the game, with nice calculated passes.
Muyonga Boniface who was a handful for the Angola defense failed to put the ball past keeper Abdala Makao in the 10th minute after leaving his marker for the dead.
He atoned for the miss twelve minutes later, guiding left cross into an empty net for the opener.
Rongai sustained the pressure, and in the 32nd minute Tyson Ochieng grabbed the second, unleashing a cracker from outside the box.
Timba John made it 3-0 in the 42nd minute, giving Rongai a comfortable lead into the breather.
On resumption, Angola’s Francis Mburu blasted wide from a prime position, and on the other end, Rongai’s Kennedy Odhiambo forced keeper Makao to a fime save in the 55th minute.
John Odhiambo scored the fourth in the 75th minute from Kennedy Odhiambo’s split pass from the midfield. Kennedy produced another sumptuous pass from the left which Khalid Khalid connected perfectly for the fifth.
Bilal Maina converted from the spot in the 85th minute for Angola’s consolation goal.
Kennedy Ondeko responded with the sixth in the 89th minute before Kennedy Omari completed the rout with the seventh on the dot.
