RSB Berkane held AS Otoho to a 1-1 draw in the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup Group A match at the Stade Omnisport Marien Ngouabi d’Owando on Sunday.
The result saw Congolese side Otoho and Moroccan outfit Berkane recorded a draw on match-day one of Group A.
The visitors were able to contain the hosts in the opening stages of the game with Burkina Faso defender Issoufou Dayo marshalling the Berkane defence.
However, Otoho grew in confidence as the match progressed and they managed to break the deadlock on the stroke of half-time.
Cabwey Kivutuka, who is only 20-years-old, hit the back of the net to make it 1-0 to Otoho – beating Berkane goalkeeper Abdelali M’Hamdi.
As a result, Otoho were 1-0 up during the half-time break.
Alain Traore, who hails from Burkina Faso, was introduced by the visitors after the restart as Berkane looked to restore parity.
Badra Alou, the Otoho coach, made changes in the closing stages of the game as the hosts looked to hold on to their slender lead.
However, the hosts went to sleep in the dying minutes of the game and they were punished by Mohammed Azziz.
The 34-year-old defender scored in the 89th minute to ensure that the match ended in a 1-1 draw on the day.
