Zimbabweas legendary football venue Rufaro Stadium is now ready to host Castle Premier Soccer League matches that is according to the official statement by the owners Harare City Council.
Harare City FC who are bankrolled by the capitals local authority and Zimbabwean giants Dynamos FC are set to use the Stadium as their homeground.
But its the later who are fondly assumed as the landlords of Rufaro. Its in this particular stadium that Dynamos FC have in the past recorded some of the most emotional and memorable outcomes.
The Stadium has not seen action since the start of 2017 soccer season. Due to an overhaul of the playing surface that the council had embarked on.
Under the Fifa goal project, Rufaro was one the beneficiaries of optional Artificial Playing Surface installed. But years on unsustained maintenance led to degradation of the pitch. For a while complaints flooded the authorities to improve the popular stadium. Finally the owners listened and had to remove the artificial surfaces and replaced it with natural grass.
It is news many soccer fans could have been waiting for because of its proximity from the Central Business District of Harare and its traditional from one of the oldest suburbs in the City of Harare.
