Rwanda and Gor Mahia left full back Abouba Sibomana has shaken off a knee injury which has kept him out of action for three months now. The offensive wing back has regained full fitness after the long layoff since picking the injury while on national duty for the Amavubi against Ghana in the AFCON 2017 qualifiers in September.
The 25 years old who is among Coach John McKinstry 23-man squad camping in Tunisia ahead of their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier match against Libya has been under close watch of Rwanda FA (FERWAFA) which paid for his treatment costs while in Nairobi.
“I’m fully healed and ready for action. I am currently with the national team in Tunisia. I want to thank FERWAFA and my club Gor Mahia for taking care of me during the injury period.” Abouba told Soka25east.com.
He camped with the national team for ten days in Morocco in October but was not able to play two build up matches against Tunisia Olympic team and Burkina Faso domestic side.
The former Rayon Sports man signed for the 15-time Kenyan Champions early this year and has been a core part of the invincible squad before the injury slow down. On return to Nairobi, Abouba is expected to help K’Ogalo’s quest for a fourth season trophy in the Kenya Cup (GOTV Shield) where they face Administration Police FC in the quarters.
Gor has so far bagged the league crown unbeaten and was on Saturday 7 declared champions of the KPL Top8 Tournament after a hard fought 2-1 win over Sony FC.
Amavubi plays Libya in the double header on Friday, November 13 in Tunisia with the return leg coming 4 days later on November 17th in Rwanda.
