Cedric Bakambu “Bakagoal” has linked up with DR Congo camp in Morocco ahead of Saturday’s 2018 Russia FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Libya in Tunisia.
The arrival of the Villarreal danger-man from his base in Spain takes to 22 the number of internationals at the disposal of Coach Florent Ikwange Ibenge.
“Cedric Bakambu joined the group and trained Tuesday evening,” FOCOFA said.
The 26-year-old has had a superb start to the new LaLiga season – banging in crucial goals for the Submarines and is expected to replicate the same form for the Leopards.
Over the weekend “Bakagoal” as he is popularly known grabbed a hat-trick in a 3-0 win against SD Eibar.
AFCON 2017 top scorer Junior Kabananga of Kazakhstan’s FK Astana has also hooked up with the squad.
Ibenge will however miss the services of Jordan Ikoko, Jacques Maghoma and Merveille Bope who have been ruled out with injuries.
The Leopards lie second in group A on seven points behind leaders Tunisia (ten points) who face Guinea away on the same day.
DR Congo have not won their last two matches losing to Tunisia 2-1 away before squandering a 2-0 lead to tie 2-2 against the same opposition at home.
The team leaves for Tunisia Thursday for the tie booked at Stade Mustapha Ben Jannet , Monastir Saturday 7th.
