The Zesco United man capitalized on a misunderstanding between Sudan keeper Ramathan Agab and his defenders to strike home the lone goal in the 27th minute to silence the partisan home fans.
Sudan hosted the first leg of the 2018 FIFA World Qualifier on Wednesday 11 at the Karima Stadium in Northen Sudan. The round two will be played four days later in Zambia with the aggregate winner moving to the group stage.
Kalengo should have added the second in the 80th minute from another defensive blunder but this time his left foot failed him as his shot went wide.
The Sudanese had a low key game and barely troubled the visitors except for a few times their forward called keeper Kennedy Mweene to action.
