Harambee Stars coach, Bobby Williamson, has called up midfielders Peter Nzuki of Nakumatta and Ulinzi’s Kevin Amwayi in his 20-man squad that will do duty against Mauritius in the first round of qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Bandari’s Abdul Latif has also been drafted in to the side.
The Scot has kept faith in majority of the players that were involved in 1 – 2 loss to Zambia earlier in September, with skipper Victor Wanyama keeping his place in the team but Greece-based winger Paul Were, who was forced out of the Zambia tie due to injury is omitted, same fate that that has befallen Tusker striker Jesse Were and his midfield teammate, Humphrey Mieno.
Gor Mahia’s lanky forward, Michael Olunga is one of only three strikers in the side, the rest being Allan Wanga and Jacob Kelli.
The goalkeeping duo of Arnold Origi (Norway) and Boniface Oluoch (Gor Mahia) have kept their places as well as defenders Dennis Odhiambo, Brian Mandela, Edwin Wafula, David ‘Calabar’ Owino and David Ochieng ‘Cheche’.
Midfield sensation, Ayub Timbe, who was impressive against Zambia and Bernard Mang’oli are also on the side.
