Congo Brazzaville Coach Claude Leroy made good his promise to teach Walia Ibex a football lesson by putting four past them at home in the FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifier played on Saturday 14 in Adis.
The hosts went ahead courtesy of Geteneh Kebede 40th minute goal after taking full advantage of the opponent defensive lapse – a lead which lasted just two minutes before returning ‘Red Devils’ danger man Thievy Bifouma equalized from a free kick to send the game into the breather all square.
Ondama put Congo ahead for the first time in the 63rd minute with Ng’anga stretching the lead ten minutes later. Substitute Hardy Bingula made it four for the visitors in the 81st minute.
Dawit Fikadu reduced the deficit for Walia in the 82nd minute before Shimelis Bekele scored the third for the final 3-4 scoreline.
The loss gives Congo Brazzaville an upper hand going into the second leg which they host four days from later. The aggregate winner joins the group stage of the qualifiers.
