Tunisia came from behind to tear apart 10-man Guinea 4-1 to move to a point’s reach to the 2018 Russia FIFA World Cup on Sunday.
Youssef Msakni grabbed a brace with Mohamed Amine Ben Amor netting the other to silence the home crowd at 28 September Stadium, Conakry.
Naby Keita, who was let sent off, got Guinea to a dream start in the 37th minute with a lovely goal off Seydouba Soumah’s assist but Msakni, who enjoyed a good outing in the West African nation tied the scores 1-1 before half time.
Msakni grabbed a brace in the 74th minute before Amor stretched the lead to 3-1 in the 83rd minute.
Naby saw red with four minutes of the added six played for violent conduct.
Msakni had the last laugh – scoring a hat-trick on the dot for an emphatic 4-1 away win.
Tunisia, who lead Group A on 13 points will book a spot in the 2018 World Cup with a draw against Libya in the last round of the qualifiers in November.
In the other tie of the group, DRC edged Libya 2-1 in Tunisia to keep the slim qualification chances kicking.
The Leopards, who are placed second in the group on 10 points, will have to beat Guinea in the November and pray the Carthage Eagles fall to Libya to sail through.
Nigeria are the only African team to secure a spot in Russia 2018 after edging Zambia 1-0 in Uyo.
Egypt could grab another tomorrow if the beat Congo Brazzaville in Alexandria Sunday.
