Russia 2018 World Cup: Gor Mahia’s Karim Nzigiyimana earns national team call up

Right full back Karim Nzigiyimana who turns out for Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia has been called up to Burundi’s senior side ahead of FIFA World Cup qualifier against Seychelles early next month.

The attack minded defender christened “King of Assists” is among ten foreign based pros who are expected to join their home based counterparts in camp starting today (Monday 28) to start preparations for the crucial tie away from home.

Karim has been a regular for the Kenyan Champions, helping them to a third straight title with four matches to spare. They are still on course to a treble, including Kenya Cup and KPL Top 8 knockout tournament. He played 90 minutes in K’Ogalo’s weekend thrashing of Muhoroni Youth 3-0 in the Top 8 Tournament.

He last played for the “Swallows” in the AFCON 2017 qualifier against Niger on September 12, a match they won by two goals to nothing.

Also given the honor to represent country are fellow Kenyan Premier League players, Emmanuel Ngama of Tusker FC and Sofapaka keeper Fwadi Ndayisenga.
