As Zambia prepare to take on the Mambas of Mozambique in the 2nd leg 2016 Rwanda CHAN qualifier slated for Machava Stadium in Maputo this afternoon, we take time to wish them all the best of luck.

George Lwandamina will be hoping to lead Zambia to a second appearance at the CHAN tournament in Rwanda next year. The last time the Chipolopolo participated at the event was in the maiden tournament hosted by Ivory Coast in 2009 where they finished third.

Zambia boasts a wealth of local talent in the shape of Winston Kalengo, Spencer Sautu, Benedict Chapeshi and Boyd Mkandawire who have already broken into the senior set up. The Chipolopolo will also look to unleash teenage sensation Conlyde Luchanga. At only 17 years, Luchanga has been in red hot form for his club Lusaka Dynamos.

The Chipolopolo who are carrying a healthy 3-0 lead have never lost to Mozambique in the last 16 competitive matches winning 14 and drawing twice. That is a fantastic record any team can boast of but the Copper Bullets are not taking things for granted. In form striker Winston Kalengo says upsets happen if complacency creeps in.

Talking to FAZ Football ahead of this afternoon’s encounter Kalengo says it is not the time to relax. “We are very aware that we that we have scored three goals in the first game but we have seen many upsets when we go casually in such games so we are very much aware and we not going to take that game casually.”

And Kalengo says he is happy that he is able to score goals and contribute to the National team’s success. “It is by the Grace of God that I have been scoring goals and surely I am very happy and I give all Glory to God,” Kalengo said.
