Rwanda have booked the last ticket to the Morocco 2018 CHAN following a barren draw against Ethiopia in the playoff return match in Kigali on Sunday.

Rwanda sail through on 3-2 aggregate after first leg victory last week in Addis Ababa.

The Amavubi will now return to the continental championship preserved for home-based professionals for the second time after staging the last edition in 2016.

The 16th slot belonged to Kenya as the initial hosts of the biennial tournament but lost it when they lost the rights to Morocco for unpreparedness.

Confederation of African Football first considered Egypt, who were eliminated by Morocco in the final round of North Africa Zone qualifiers for the slot but, the Egyptian FA turned down the offer citing congested domestic calendar.

CAF then handed back the opportunity to East Africa Zone – settling on Ethiopia and Rwanda for the playoff with the aggregate winner grabbing the slot.

The draw for the tournament which starts in January next year will be conducted this week.
