Rwanda coach Antoine Hey yesterday named an all home-based team for the upcoming CECAFA Senior Challenge scheduled for Kenya next month.
The 23-man squad is predominantly composed of players from Peace Cup winners APR and Rwanda Premier League reigning champions Rayon Sports players.
They head to camp Saturday in Kigali with players who will be engaged in league matches today expected to link up with the rest Sunday.
Hey will be using the regional tourney which starts 3rd to 19th December to help him come up with a team for the 2018 Morocco CHAN.
“The CECAFA Senior Challenge will be a good test for the Rwandan local players who will be seeking to impress in order to be selected on the final team for the 2018 CHAN finals in Morocco, Rwanda FA said.
Apart from new call up SC Kiyovu’s center back All Mbogo, the rest of the team remain intact from the CHAN campaign.
Omborega Fitina, who recently returned to the Rwandan Premier League from Slovakia with APR has also made the list and is expected to be a pillar in the Hey’s team.
Rwanda are in group A and will play the opening match against host Kenya on 3rd.
Other members of the group include Tanzania, guests Libya and Zanzibar.
