Police Fc and reigning champions APR Fc shared the spoils in the first derby of the Azam Rwanda Premier League season played at Kicukiro Stadium on Friday afternoon.
On the third day of the Azam Rwanda Premier League, Jean Claude Iranzi gave the visitors APR Fc the lead after 14 minutes, through a 25-yard-shot which thundered past Emery Mvuyekure in the Police goal.
But Songa Isaie equalized for the hosts following a defensive blunder which allowed him to level the scores at 1-1 in the 75th minute and register his second goal of the season.
Both teams continued to press forward in search of a winner with the scores locked at 1-1 until the final whistle leaving Police Fc still atop of the standings with seven points while APR Fc have jumped to sixth spot, jointly on four points with Rwamagana, Espoir, AS Kigali, Espoir and Bugesera Fc respectively.
In another match played in Nyamata, new league entrants Bugesera Fc secured their first maximum points of the season as they edged Rusizi-based Espoir Fc 2-0 courtesy of a brace from Djihad Rucogoza.
The thrilling Azam Rwanda Premier League action continues on Saturday with bottom-placed side Etincelles hosting Rayon Sports at Tam Tam grounds; Mukura host Rwamagana at Muhanga stadium while SC Kiyovu host Amagaju at Mumena turf.
On Sunday, AS Muhanga will host Musanze at Muhanga stadium; Gicumbi faces Marines in Gicumbi while AS Kigali will host Sunrise FC at Mumena Stadium.
