Rayon Sports are set to appoint Frenchman David Donadei as the club’s new head coach ahead of the 2015/16 Azam Rwanda Premier League season on September 18.
Rayon Sports secretary general and spokesperson Olivier Gakwaya said Donadei is in the country to finalise talks with the Blues and put pen to paper. But he did not specify the details of what revealed would likely to be a two-year contract.
“He has not signed yet but David Donadei brings massive experience which the team needs as we look to move forward,” Gakwaya told Times Sport on Sunday.
He added that, “We have not finalised everything and very soon we will be in position to give more details about him, we’re hopeful he will be our coach next season.”
Donadei jetted into the country on Saturday evening will be starting his job immediately, according to Gakwaya.
He will be replacing Jean Baptiste Kayiranga, who first joined the club in 2004 for one year, leading them to the 2004/5 league title before he was sacked. He returned in 2014 and led the club to fifth place and the Peace Cup final.
The Nyanza-based side beat Rwamagana FC 2-0 in a pre-season friendly match on Wednesday. Rayon Sports, seven-time Rwandan champions, start their 2015/16 season league campaign against Marines FC at the Tam Tam Stadium in Rubavu on September 20.
