The super Eagles are yet to taste glory at the tournament with their best performance being a third place finish in 2014.With that said its clear Nigeria,Being one of the power houses of African Football will be looking to win this years CHAN tournament.

Sunday Oliseh will be looking to win his first trophy with the Super Eagles.Oliseh who took over from 2013 AFCON winning Coach Stephen Keshi claimed that he has the hardest job in the world of Football.

Winning CHAN might surely help easy the Job for the Former Nigerian International.Well well but not that fast winning a tournament is harder than it seems cause alot of things have to be put into Consideration and perfected.Nigeria have done well on most fronts which is impressive and sign of a team angry for glory.

Winning a tournament starts from preparation,as they say failing to prepare is preparing to fail.Team selection was on merit which is should always be the case but that has not been happening in most African countries.

Playing quality friendlies is also key to a teams success at a tournament.In as much as playing friendlies is important but those friendlies have to be against formidable opposition so that you gauge you team properly.Nigeria have played three good games two of which they won and Drew the other one.
They beat University of pretoria in their first game 3-0.Tunde Adeniji of Sunshine Stars scored a brace and Ifeanyi Matthews of El-Kanemi got the other goal .Well the team will not come as a quality side in many people’s eyes but remember their is what is called morale Boosting.playing a side that you are sure to win to build confidence in the team.This was smart move by Sunday and the Nigerian FA.

The second they were held to a 1-1 draw by Angola.After that they now faced the Ivory Coast which they beat 1 nil via a Ifeanyi Matthew strike.This is how a team that wants to win a tournament prepares and their is no doubt the Super Eagles will be one of the best performers at the tournament.

Shifting Camp to South Africa was another great move.Football is a mental sport hence the mental state of players has a big role to play in terms of their performance.The player need to be away from distractions like family,friends and Loved ones at times to prepare well for an enormous task ahead.

The team will jet into Rwanda on Friday 15th August which is three days before their first game with Niger on Monday18th August. Lets left to the tournament’s duration to see if the team is ready to be Champions of African local football for the very first time.
