South sudanes national league champions Atlabara FC have started preparations for the CAF Confederations match against Rwandese side Police FC with a series of friendly matches in place.
The club that opted out of the Champions league despite winning the league have lined up friendly matches in Uganda against some of the top teams as preparations for the first leg CAF Confedrations Cup against Police between 14th and 15th of February.
A close source to the management of Atlabara football club made this clear to soka25east that they will have friendlies in Uganda en route to Kigali. They have lined up matches with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), SC Villa and Vipers.
The team will leave Juba in the first week of February to complete their preparation in the neighboring Uganda before moving to Rwanda according to the management.
Atlabara was on the verge of breaking a South Sudanese record when they almost eliminated Ghanaian Champions Berekum Chelsea in the 2014 Champions league preliminaries losing on penalties after they had cancelled a first leg 2-0 loss with a similar home win for a 2-2 aggregate.
It is however not known why the Juba based club opted to play in the second tier of the CAF club competitions despite winning the National league.
Atlabara’s place will however be taken by Al Ghazal who finished second in the league.Al Ghazal will travel to Ndola in the weekend of 14-16 February to meet Zambian Champions Zesco.
