Egypt striker Mohamed Salah has admitted that the moment Bouka Moutou drew level for Congo in their crunch World Cup qualifier last night in Alexandria was the “most difficult in his life.”

Salah put the Pharaohs on course to a return to the biggest football bonanza with the opener in the 63rd minute but all appeared to be headed for a heartbreak in the 87th minute following Bouka’s leveler.

The Liverpool wonder-boy was captured at that particular moment dropping dead on the ground, rising up, grabbing the ball and putting it on his head with two hands before throwing it away while screaming in frustration.

“The most difficult moment in my life was when the fans fell silent following Congo’s equalizer,”
Salah said.

With the crowd that had filled the Borg El Arab Stadium, Alexandria to the rafters crests fallen and the tears starting to flow freely as the clock fast ticked away fast, Egypt earned a penalty.

What followed after Salah stepped before the fans and the expectant nation at large to coolly slot in from the spot were scenes out of this world.

“When I stepped up to take the penalty, I didn’t thinks of anything but scoring and winning the game,”

“That was to me a dream come true, whether as a footballer or an Egyptian citizen and fan. I’m proud today by scoring twice against Congo,” the former AS Roma player said.

Egypt previously qualified for the World Cup in 1934 and 1990 but has been in the cold since till Sunday’s big return.
