Salah ruled out of Egypt’s upcoming matches against Kenya and Comoros

Mohamed Salah has been ruled out of Egypt’s upcoming matches against Kenya and Comoros with an ankle injury.

The Egpytian Football Association confirmed the winger’s absence with pictures of him wearing a protective boot on his left ankle.

The statement said the injury needed ‘a period of treatment to recover’.

It continued: “The player had come to the camp this morning (Tuesday) after arriving in Cairo late yesterday evening and watched the evening training that the team played at the Burj Al Arab Stadium.”

The 27-year-old scored in Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over title rivals Manchester City at the weekend before being taken off in the 87th minute.

Salah has had ongoing problems with his ankle since the win over Leicester on October 5, and also had to be substituted in the victory win over Tottenham late last month.

Egypt had said the forward had indicated a desire to play for them during the break, but he was ruled out following a meeting between the national team doctor, head coach and captain.

The former Roma ace met up with the squad in Cairo on Tuesday morning and underwent tests, the EFA revealed in a statement.
