Samuel Eto’o hit late equaliser to rescue a point for Antalyspor on Sunday evening after Bafetembi Gomis’s first half opener.

Former Swansea forward Gomis scored opening goal for Galatasaray as home side took first half lead before Samuel Eto’o scored 82nd minute equaliser to save Antalyaspor ‘s blushes.

Eto’o, a Champions League winner with Barcelona and Inter Milan and one of the greatest strikers of his generation, can’t run around like he used to but at 36 he still has the instinct and sense of timing of a genuine star.

Until that moment, Galatasary goalie had dealt with Antalyaspor’s threat but this time Eto’o ghosted ahead of their back line and finished with a powerful header that typified composure and class.

The coach had given Eto’o a rare start partly because of past experience playing in the top flight football as he tried to calm the waters for the four time Africa player of the year who want to leave the club.

The goal was the 36-year-old’s first in four topflight games for Riza Calimbay’s side who are 17th in the log.

In their next Turkish top division encounter, they battle Asamoah Gyan’s Kayserispor at the Kadir Has Stadium on September 15.
