Zesco United gave away a 1-0 lead at the death as Sebastian Mwansa scored in the last minute of regulation time to salvage a 1-1 draw for Green Buffaloes in a Week 31 match played at Independence Stadium on Saturday.

The champions had taken an early lead through Mwape Mwelwa who broke the deadlock in the 2nd minute when he fired home at the far post from a square pass by ZSL most Creative midfielder Clatous Chota Chama.

They had looked good for all three points but second half substitute Mwansa saved the day for Buffaloes with a close range header in the 89th minute from a cross by Allan Mukuka. It was a game of two halves with GBFC dominating the second.

This was Zesco United’s third successive match without a win, left them in fourth position with 51 points from 25 matches, meaning that they will fall 17 points off the lead if Zanaco defeat Forest Rangers on Sunday. Green Buffaloes stayed in fifth position with 49 points from 31 matches.

In Kitwe, third-placed Power Dynamos bounced back from their abandoned match with Mufulira Wanderers last week to thrash Nakambala Leopards 5-1 thanks to goals by Jimmy Ndhlovu who opened his account for the season as well as Patson Daka and Kelvin Mubanga who scored a brace apiece.

The victory kept Power Dynamos in third with 56 points. Patson Daka has now scored 13 goals in the league just one adrift of second placed Jesse Jackson Were.

On Friday, Kabwe Warriors maintained sixth position with 43 points after a 1-0 victory over Mufulira Blackpool thanks to a 57th minute header by Lameck Kafwaya following a corner by Mwansa Nsofwa.

And Nkwazi moved up to seventh with 41 points on goal difference from Red Arrows following a 2-1 victory at Nchanga Rangers who were reduced to 10 men after Clement Mwape was sent off following a professional foul on Edward Mwamba.

Mwila Kabwe gave the visitors a 16th minute lead scoring his third goal in three games but Simon Nkhata equalised at the stroke of half-time. Justin Shonga popped up on 77 minutes to restore the visitors advantage which they kept until the final whistle.

Elsewhere, Lusaka Tigers relegation woes just deepened as they gave away a 1-0 lead to lose 2-1 at home to
Green Eagles.

Andrew Phiri equalised in the 57th minute to cancel Ngole Ilunga’s 27th minute opener and Greenwell Witika tapped home from close range in additional time to give the visitors maximum points.

In Mufulira, Lumwana Radiants were contented to collect a point against Mufulira Wanderers in the two relegation threatened sides’ goalless draw at Shinde stadium.

Action continues with Nkana hosting Napsa Stars on Sunday while Lusaka Dynamos will entertain city rivals Red Arrows in the day’s early kick-off which will be followed by Zanaco’s match with Forest Rangers at Sunset Stadium.
