SC Villa and Stade Gabèsien booked their spot in the second round of the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup on Friday.
The Ugandan outfit completed a 5-0 aggregate thrashing of Zanzibar’s JKU FC, enjoying a 1-0 away win at Amaan Stadium, courtesy of a 46thwinner from Ambrose Kirya, after sealing a 4-0 home victory in Kampala in the first leg.
Villa will face Cameroon’s UMS de Loum or FUS Rabat of Morocco for a place in the play-off round of Africa’s second-tier club competition.
Meanwhile, Stade Gabèsien managed to hold AS Kaloum Star to a goalless draw in Conakry, after recording a 2-1 victory over the Guineans in the first leg.
It is a deserved qualification for the Tunisian side, who had a first-half chance cleared off the line and hit the woodwork through Hichem Essifi three minutes from time.
Stade Gabèsien will take on Harare City of Zimbabwe or Zambia’s ZESCO united in the next round.
