Kenya’s reigning league champions Gor Mahia will on Wednesday, February 3 play Uganda Cup holders SC Villa Jogoo in a friendly match at Nakivubo Stadium.
The team is expected to land in Uganda on Tuesday 2.
“The Kenyans will jet in on Tuesday and we believe that this match will push us a long way in preparing our team for the CAF Confederations Cup tie against Sudan’s Khartoum Al Watani FC slated for February 13 in Sudan. The match will act as a fundraiser for the Sudan trip.” A statement from SC Villa PRO and CEO, Ivan Kakembo yesterday confirmed.
K’Ogalo who are the Kenya’s representative in the 2016 CAF Champions League have played two high profile build up matches, winning both, against St. George FC of Ethiopia (5-4 on penalties after 1-1 draw), and Al Hilal of Sudan (1-0), as they intensify preseason training before they host CNAPS of Madagascar in the preliminaries of the Africa’s premier club championship on the weekend of 13,14 February.
Frank Nuttall’s side yesterday lost 1-0 in another friendly against Bondo United in the “Obange Cup” played in memory of the late Gor Mahia’s patron Hon. Raila Odinga’s son Fidel Odinga at Bondo University grounds.
