The Uganda Premier League match between rivals Sports Club Villa Jogoo and Express Football Club has been called off due to a waterlogged pitch following a heavy afternoon downpour. The UPL Secretariat is yet to announce another date for the match.

With fans still tripping in slowly and the Azam TV crew on standby ready to relay the game live, the officials led by referee Brian Miiro Nsubuga came out to inspect the ground as both teams took part in the warm ups.
Minders opted to clear the water that had covered a portion of the pitch for close to an hour.

However match officials deemed the pitch unfit for game hence calling it off sending fans for both club into a frenzy of hot arguments.

Despite the match not taking place, the rivalry between the fans of both clubs continued in the stands as they exchanged stones only for the police to calm the situation.
Yesterday a FUFA Big League game between Wandegeya FC and Entebbe FC was not played as well due to a water logged pitch as a result of the heavy rains shortly before the match in Kanyanya.
The FUFA Referees Standing Committee (FRSC) had appointed FIFA Referee Brian Nsubuga to handle the Friday’s highly anticipated match at Nakivubo stadium.
Nsubuga was to be assisted by Kayondo Samuel and Balikowa Musa as 1st Assistant and 2nd Assistant referees while Byaruhanga Henry was the 4th official. Kityo Asuman was the match Commissioner.
