A wasteful SC Vipers had to claw its way back after going a goal down to Bright Stars to see the teams settle on a 1 – 1 draw in the Azam Uganda Premier League clash staged at the Nakivubo Stadium on Friday 19th August 2016.
Both teams had open chances within the first five minutes with Ssemuju Joseph missing for SC Vipers from a powerful shot missing goal mouth by inches with Bright Stars Keeper well beaten before Keziron Kizito returning the favor from the other end two minutes later. Kayiwa Ibrahim too had a chance with a great curling effort but just missed the target by inches on seven minutes.
Vipers then started stamping their authority in the match and fine interplay saw Alfred Leku release Ibrahim Kayiwa with an inviting cross but Kayiwa on a free header missed from close range on 11 minutes and Alfred Leku too missed from a close range header six minutes later after getting to the end of Shafik Bakaki cross.
Fifteen minutes later, Vipers were punished when their defenders failed to communicate with a fluffed clearance that fell on to Bright Stars striker path and he hit hard and low to open the scores on 34th minutes.
Vipers got another chance to open the scores in beginning of second half from two set pieces in quick succession on the 56 th minute but Nkuubi hit his wide before Enesu hit straight at Nicholas Sebwato in the Bright Stars goal.
The visitors lead however was cut short in second half as Vipers won a good pass that laded into Joseph Semmujju who crossed a nice ball into the box with Ibrahim Kayiwa heading straight into the net in the 67th minute to level the scores.
Duncan Sennide should have confirmed the three points on 75 minutes when he had just the keeper to beat but Nicholas Sebwato produced a double save to keep the Vipers venom out.
