Sports Club Victoria University head into the finals of the Cecafa Nile Basin cup with a clean sheet, no goals conceeded and boast a very solid defence and a gem in goal, Benjamin Ochan.
However Coach Morley Byekwaso has not registered any goal from his strikers and will face AFC Leopards in the finals hoping to continue with the record.
Allan Wanga has been in great form for Leopards and Victoria defence of Murushid Jjuuko and Captain Mpuga Martin will be tested as the two outfits battle to win the inaugural Nile Basin Cup Tournament.
“We are very ready for Leopards because they are not in the finals accidentally but we also aim to keep a clean sheet,” captain Mpuga said. it looked like it was over for Leopards in the quarter finals against Ethiopian side Defence FC but the resilience and agility displayed saw cruise to the semis and eventually finals where the best teams in the cup will contest.
Cesar Sapeo, Dan Nsubuga, Mathew Odong and Brian Toorach are yet to find the net for Sports Club Victoria University but all eyes will be on industrious midfielder Muzamir Mutyaba and winger Martin Kibirige to propel former Uganda Cup winners to victory.
The duo has scored five goals between out of the six scored. A number of critics thought it was going to be hard for them to get this far but it will be history written in the Cecafa books.
