SCVU Head Coach Morley Byekwaso says his side is ready for their maiden CECAFA Nile Basin winners’ championship that kicks off next week from the 22nd to 6th June.
The players had no time to rest as they resumed training on Tuesday ( a day after their Uganda Cup exit) to get them in shape ahead of the tournament in Sudan in which they will play Malaika of South Sudan, Police from Zanzibar and Sudan’s El Merreikh.
“There is definitely no rest for the players,” he said. “I believe if we are to be the best, we need such exposure. It is important for the players and us the coaching staff.”
SCVU plays its first game against Malaika next Thursday before Police and El Merrehk as the final group game.
“I have no idea about Malaika and Police but we cannot underrate them,” Morley told the club portal.
“I watched El Merreikh play here this year. They have creative players and I think that will be a good game too.
“We are setting our goals on making good progress in this competition. It is very good if we are to go forward as a team.”
The team that departs on Monday and will be based in the capital Khartoum.
