The second FIFA Executive Football Summit opened on Tuesday in the Moroccan city of Marrakech and ends today after various sessions.
The proceedings of this three-day meeting, the second of the 2018-2019 edition, after the one held in Doha (Qatar) last December, are being held in camera, in the presence of FIFA president, Gianni Infantino.
Since its launch by FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Paris in November 2016, the summits have become an exchange platform to discuss strategic football matters and share best practices between member associations’ executives.
The agenda of this sporting event, which brings together more than 50 FIFA member associations, includes the discussion of strategic football issues and the sharing of best practices between the leaders of member associations in open and constructive debates.
The future of FIFA competitions, the development of football in general and women’s football in particular, as well as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will be also among the topics discussed.
This meeting will be marked by the examination of proposals from FIFA’s national member associations to increase the number of teams qualified for the World Cup from the next edition scheduled for 2022 in Qatar.
The last meeting of the 3rd edition of the FIFA Executive Football Summits will take place in Italy.
