Sierra Leone national team coach Sellas Tetteh has resigned from his post with immediate effect due to personal reasons.
The 63 year-old handed in his resignation to the Sierra Leone Football Association President on Thursday. Ghanaian Media outlets are reporting that the resignation has since been accepted by the Sierra Leone FA Executive Committee.
This was the Ghanaian trainer’s second stint with the Leon Stars having joined in August 2019 and had his first spell from 2015 to 2017. He also coached the Rwanda National team between 2010 and 2011 after leading Ghana to win the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup in Egypt.
Tetteh only managed to record one win in four games in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, while drawing two games and losing the one in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications.
Tetteh began his coaching career in 1995 with Kotobabi Powerlines, before joining Liberty Professionals a year later.
Tetteh became Assistant Manager of the Ghana under-17 team in 2001 – taking full control a year later – before moving to the Ghana under-23 team in 2003. He later became an Assistant to the full national team.
He was appointed caretaker manager of the Ghanaian national team in June 2008, a position he held until August 2008.
