Senegal coach Malick Daf says his team still have work to do to reach their targets of a FIFA U-20 World Cup place despite Wednesday’s convincing 3-0 victory over Mozambique.
Pape Diallo scored on either side of Pape Diop’s close-range effort to see off the Young Os Mambas and qualify for the last eight of the TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
“We took advantage of the many spaces in the defense of the Mozambican national team. We had many opportunities in the meeting, but we were not able to take advantage of them all,” Daf told journalists.
The Teranga Lions controlled the match with Mamadou Camara and Lamine Camara bossing the midfield with support from captain Samba Diallo, Pape Diallo and Pape Diop in attack.
“We still have a lot of work to do, as the next match will be against the Egyptian national team.
“We did not choose the group or the teams that we will face, but we know that this match is the strongest for us in the group.
“The Egyptian national team is big and strong, as it is armed with the elements of the land and the fans.
“We are preparing for each match and will fight for the ultimate goal, which is to reach the World Cup.”
