Senegal have become the first African team to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Poland 2019. After the second matchday in Group B at the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Niger 2019, the Young Lions of Teranga confirmed their place in this year’s world finals after winning their back-to-back matches, defeating Ghana 2-0 at the Stade de Maradi in Niger following a 2-0 win over Mali on 3 February.
The match-winner was Youssouph Mamadou Badji, who scored a first-half brace to lead Senegal to victory and, most importantly, to world finals qualification.
The top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals and book tickets to Europe. The third and last matchday will take place on Friday 8 February and Saturday 9 February.
