Senegal has been selected as the next venue for the Confederation of African Aiteo sponsored Football awards 2018.
The event will be held on January 8, 2019- an it is meant to reward African players and officials who excelled in the year under review.
Senegal Football Federation president Augustin Senghor confirmed that he has been tasked by Caf to lead a subcommittee that will organise the awards.
“The Head of State (Macky Sall), who received in audience the President of the African Football Confederation, Ahmad, on Thursday, has agreed that our capital is home to this major event of the continental football,” Senghor told the Senegalese Press Agency.
“They had already talked about it in Moscow at the World Cup, and this audience has confirmed everything.It is a great honor for our country and for Senegalese football to organise this event, and it has been decided that the event will be held in other African cities after it has been held in Dakar.”
CAF 1st Vice President Amaju Pinnick also confirmed the same to www.soka25east.com saying “Yes its official Senegal will host the next Aiteo CAF Football awards.This has been agreed upon as we seek to ensure the ceremony is spread across Africa to give all countries opportunities to host different CAF events”
Egypt star Mohamed Salah is the reigning African Footballer of the Year and is in the race to retain it.
