Debutants at the AFCON U17 Tanzania stun favorites Angola 2:1 in a group B encounter to register their maiden win of the continental showpiece.
In form Serengeti Boys controlled the match proceedings straight from kickoff and took the lead in the 6th minute courtesy of a header from Kelvin Nashon Naftali from a cross from Enock Vitalis.
Angola equalized in the 18th minute through striker Francisco Pedro Chilumbo who took advantage of a lapse in defence to draw level in the first half.
Tanzania were first out of the blocks from the interval, pilling pressure on Angola’s defence before Man of the match Abdul Hamis Suleiman scored the match winner for the East Africans.
The win moved Tanzania to the top of group B standings with four points, ahead of Niger and Mali who are yet to play.
