Shabana FC players last night spent the night in the cold after being kicked-out of the team’s rented club house in Mosocho, Kisii.
The cash strapped community club has not been able to pay rent for the past three months and the landlord could not take promises anymore, throwing the desperate players out in the cold.
The distraught players with nothing in the pocket and no one to turn to lit a bonfire to keep them warm as they sat the night out.
Our efforts to reach team manager Andrew Kanuli whom the players accuse of neglect proved futile.
We however managed to get hold of the treasurer Mr. Omwando who said he has not been in touch with team since weekend when they played Talanta FC in Thika in a National Super League fixture.
“I’m not aware of the situation since I have been out of town attending some burial. But as you know we are struggling financially, we are trying our best, under the circumstances.” Mr. Omwando said.
The team does not pay salaries, only allowances which are not assured.
They arrived for the Talanta match after over eight hours journey at kick-off time losing 1-0.
