League debutants Kariobangi Sharks continued with their resurgence in the Kenyan premier league beating Mathare United 2:1 in the slum derby played at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
The slum boys stamped their authority early in the match and this paid off when they took the lead in the 28th minute courtesy of Chrispin Oduor.
Kariobangi Sharks came from the break all guns blazing and came close to an equalizer in the 55th minute when Mathew Odongo was brought down in the box but Pascal Ogweno put the spot kick wide.
The William Muluya charges pilled more pressure on the Francis Kimanzi boys and restored parity courtesy of defender Bolton Omwenga before Masoud Juma headed in the match winner to complete the comeback, ensuring maximum points and bragging rights for the first leg encounter.
