The Awendo based side were able to brush aside a stuborn West Kenya Sugar 2-1 in Gotv shield cup Round of 16 match played at the Moi stadium in Kisumu on Saturday October 10.
Edwin Oduor scored a brace on the second half to help eliminate and send packing last year’s semi finalists to an early exit in this year’s edition.
Oduor repay his manager for handing him a start after a long time out by latching onto a long pass from his defensive third to rush clean through on goal and slot calmly past an advancing Evans Oluoch for the opening goal at the hour mark.
Five minutes later, he found Andrew Sekayombya with a nice cutback which the Ugandan did well to tap in from close range but his celebrations were cut short by the second assistant who controversially flagged him offside.
As the hosts pile pressure after the goal, and they were rewarded with an equalizer in the end after a brilliant counter attack that culminated in Brian Arasa’s bullet diving header finding its way into the net barely two minutes later.
The tie which which seem to be heading into a penalty shoot out took a twist five minutes later this time Sekayombya shimming past the visitors’ rear guard to set up Edwin Oduor for his second of the day an east tap in which the ball through Oluoch’s near post.
