The Sierra Leone FA’s Iron Lady has taken an usually silent stance, not seen or spoken to media since the furore over the Fifa letter by Samoura to the SLFA instructing Ordinary Congress be postphoned until integrity checks are carried out on delegates and potential executives and Presidential candidates. A decision taken by the Fifa Members Association.
“She prefers (close sources say) “to let the Ministry and in particular the two ministers and Director of Sports play themselves out to the public.”
“She does not want to be drawn into the desperate and political antics of Minister of Sports Ahmed Khanou who has clearly compromised his office and abused his office with gambling syndication punters in the country”
But the fact is that whether she wants to be drawn into it or not, she is the head of the FA and the center of this volatile and never ending four year warfare which has been waged against one woman by several men ranging from politicians to stakeholders, lawyers, bankers, businessmen, the whole spectrum all in an attempt to protect the gambling mafia which is relentless in its bid to control football in Sierra Leone.
Her two week absence from her country and refusal to make any public statements has fuellled speculation and rumours ranging from her being intimidated and threatened by government “heavies” to health issues, or her focuse on CAF duties hinting that an announcement of her decision to withdraw from Football Administration in Sierra Leone may be imminent.
One thing is for sure,Isha Johansen’s international profile has made her a personality of keen interest globally and as her mandate as the ONLY FEMALE FA PRESIDENT in AFRICA comes to an end in less than two weeks time, varied international groups from media, political and civil rights are watching what her next move will be whether to announce a second term running,or stepping away from the position.
Whatever her decision, Sierra Leone will again be under the spotlight not least as the trials and tribulations of this remarkable woman is celebrated by a world won over by her charm, bravery and love for her country that could not reciprocate.
