DR Congo defending champions TP Mazembe penned a renewed one year deal with their shirt sponsor Simba Breweries on Friday.
The improved partnership negotiated by the club’s president Moise Katumbi, who is in exile, will see players receive bonuses for wins in the African championships. However, the actual figures of the deal were not disclosed.
“The Ravens will receive bonuses from Simba Breweries each time they win a match in the African competitions,” Fredric Kitengie, Mazembe’s Sports Director said.
The five-time African champions were knocked-out of this year’s CAF Champions League for the second year running but managed to reach the Confederations Cup group phase.
Simba Breweries’ brand is expected to continue enjoying unrivalled publicity which comes with associating with one of the most successful clubs in the continent.
“The presence of the Simba logo on all Mazembe jerseys and on the pitch advertising panels will enable the Simba brand to strengthen its image on a global scale,” the club said.
Gaetan Van Belle, Simba’s Chief Executive Officer welcomed the new sign of confidence in their brand, “We are very proud and it a great honor to continue this relationship. We hope to have a great season together.”
