Vodacom Tanzania Mainland Premier League champions Simba SC are raring to go ahead of the 2020/21 season as they look to defend their crown.
The Simba squad left Arusha on Tuesday morning for Mbeya in readiness for the first game against debutants Ihefu scheduled for this weekend.
While in Arusha, the team played two games the first one was a Community Shield against Namungo FC which the they won 2-0 on Sunday and on Monday played a friendly game against Arusha FC. Simba convincingly won 6-0.
Despite beating Namungo FC 2-0 to win the Community Shield, Coach Sven Vandenbroeck admits 2020/21 season will be tough because of the way other teams have been recruiting players.
Last season Simba SC set a history by winning the league title with six games to spare something which he expects would not happen easily in 2020/21 season.
Sven was pleased with the quality displayed by his players in the game against despite having a two-week to prepare. The Belgian tactician said if his players maintain the same quality, there is a huge possibility of doing well in various competitions this season.
“Teams have brought in good players and that makes the league next season to be tough but I’m pleased with my players performance bearing in mind we just had a two-week training.
“I cannot single out one player for an outstanding performance but the entire team. We had good ball possession and made many attacks against Namungo for the whole 90 minutes,” said coach Sven.
