Simba snatch late winner against CS Sfaxien as Enyimba beaten

Simba snatched a late 2-1 win over CS Sfaxien in Dar es Salaam, while Maputo Black Bulls stunned Enyimba with a thumping 3-0 win in Mozambique in Matchday 3 of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup group stage played this Sunday, December 15, 2024.

In several groups, everything will be decided during the second half of the group stage of the Total Energies CAF Confederation Cup. This is what the results obtained this Sunday, when the competition was halfway through, suggest. 

Simba 2-1 CS Sfaxien

Simba beat CS Sfaxien 2-1 in a thrilling Group A encounter at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium. The visitors scored first through Hazem Haj Hassen, but Simba responded with a header from Kibu Denis in the 7th minute. The Tanzanian side dominated the second half, with Denis scoring twice in the dying moments to seal the victory. Simba now climb to second place in Group A.

Black Bulls 3-0 Enyimba

Maputo Black Bulls stunned Nigerian giants Enyimba with a 3-0 win in Group D. Rume Akporoh’s first-half header set the tone before second-half goals from Fidel Sousa and Ayuba Francis sealed the result. Unable to respond, Enyimba escaped with the poor result that leaves them bottom of the group.

Lunda Sul 0-1 Stellenbosch

South African club Stellenbosch snatched a narrow 1-0 away win against CD Lunda Sul. Devin Titus’ late header in the 89th minute proved decisive as the South Africans moved up to third place in Group B. Lunda Sul missed crucial chances in a tight encounter.

Orapa United 0-0 Jaraaf

Orapa United and Jaraaf played out a 0-0 draw in Group C. Both teams created chances but poor finishing and the goalkeepers’ great form allowed both teams to neutralise each other. This result puts both teams in difficulty in the group standings.
