Tanzania’s Simba SC will be back in Champions League action this afternoon in the CAF Champions League against Al Merrikh in Dar es Salaam at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium.
The last meeting between the two sides saw a goalless draw at the Al-Hilal Stadium.
Head Coach Didier Gomez has said he will take a positive approach against Al Merrikh by playing attacking football because the team is at home.
Gomez has said he expects to make small changes to the squad especially on the offensive line to make sure we attack to get all the points. Coach Gomez has emphasized that three points are important as they will put Simba in a good position to reach the quarter-finals where the team will need to record one point in the remaining two matches.
“We will play attacking football because we are at home, we need to win the match to put ourselves in a good position to reach the quarter-finals,” said Coach Gomez.
Coach Gomez has said central defender Pascal Wawa will miss due to serving a three yellow card penalty but all the others are ready.
“The only player we will miss is Wawa for serving three yellow cards. But we have Peter Muduhwa, Erasto Nyoni and Kennedy Juma who can fill his position, ”said coach Gomez.
Simba are sitting pretty on top of Group A with 7 points followed by Vita Club and Al Ahly both on 4 points. Al Merrikh are bottom with one point.
The match is billed for 16:00 EAT.
