When hooliganism rises its ugly head two things are surely bond to happen,The stadiums becomes a no go zone and a fun place for families and secondly the sponsors shun away from the responsible club, which leaves many teams struggling financially to make through the season.
In the Tusker premier league AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia fans have more than once engaged in running battles with the police after engaging in fan trouble.
Haunted by past sins
The damaged reputation is now hunting AFC leopard’s new management as they try to secure sponsors for the approaching season as intimated by their current officials
“We are currently in talks with three sponsors but the biggest challenge and concern is about hooliganism. Most are concerned with the fans misconduct and that is why it’s taking to long to convince the sponsors” Matthew Oporwa told Soka25east.com
“Though the gate collections help in aligning the clubs finances it is barely enough and the club needs the cooperate support”he added.
The team is set to play Ligi Ndogo today (23rd January) at the Nyayo national stadium at 3pm.
“We are requesting the fans to show up in large numbers so that they can see the new players and assess them before the contracts are signed on Sunday” Added Opwora
