Soana scored a 86th minute winner to grab a 1-0 victory away from home to SCVU on Friday that lifted them from sixth from sixth with three points adrift leaders Vipers in a FUFA Super League game played at Namboole Stadium.
SCVU failed to put their experience used to beat URA on Tuesday (2-1) against Soana as they attacked for the entire game but succumbed to Richard Makumbi’s boy thanks to midfielder Siraje Turyamuhebwa’s last gasp winner.
The 26 year old striker netted a powerful header following a well taken corner from former AFC Leopard winger Dan Wagaluka who resigned for the club in the January transfer window after being released by the Kenya CAF Confederation cup ambassadors.
The result means that SCVU have won just one of their opening three games in the second round. Soana have moved into fourth position on 33 points
In Kitende, table leaders Vipers dropped two vital points following a goalless draw in Kitende with Bright Stars FC.
The new comers who were playing minus two regular players Musa Kalwira and Anthony Bongole due to suspension absorbed the pressure from the home team as they kept Vipers were hoping to complete a double over Bright Stars who remain unbeaten since the start of the second round. Vipers remain top with 36 points.
In Lugazi, former champions URA trounced Proline FC 3-0 thanks to goals by Frank Kalanda and a brace by Feni Moses Ali. URa moves to second position with 35 points while Kira drop to third on 34.
At Nakivubo, Sc Villa recovered from a goal down to beat Kira Young 2-1. Villa’s goals were scored by victor Emanayo and Karim Nduggwa.
In Mbale Ivan Lubaale was on target for bottom placed CRO while Benson Ociti netted for Police.
