Sofapaka head coach, David Ouma has exuded confidence in his team surviving the axe, by the culmination of the 2016 sportpesa premier league.
This is despite losing 7 out of the 8 matches played so far which has left the club sitting dangerously at the bottom of the table standings.
After losing 95% of the players in the January transfer window, many pundits labeled the Batato Ba Mungu as relegation candidates.
And by the look of things, so far the pundits appear to be right.
Ouma has however rebuffed this claims, stating that all they need is 12 points in the first leg.
Targeting a top 8 finish
“We will not face the axe, as a matter of fact we will finish the league in the top eight position” said a determined Ouma
“We are working on getting at least 12 points at the end of the first leg, which I believe is achievable”.
The coach has blamed the current situation to player’s complacency in the pitch.
“The players are good technically, tactically and in terms of fitness however, the mental strength and attitude during the progress of the game is lacking”
“We have been creating a lot of chances, more than our opponents, but by the last whistle there is nothing to show for it”
Despite creating many chances the team lacks the finishing power. Other than that the team has failed to minimize the threat from the opponents.
“During our last match with we created 9 chances and no goal, our opponents created only three chances and scored two of those”
Looking for strikers
“We will be going for at least four strikers during the transfer window. We need two number 9s and two number 10s. This will help us improve our fortunes in the second leg of the season”
