For the second week running, Sportpesa Premier League pacesetters Tusker failed to pick maximum points at Machakos Stadium drawing 1-1 with relegation threatened Sofapaka.

A win for the Brewers should have stretched their lead at the helm to 39 points, 8 points clear of the chasing pack of Mathare United and Gor Mahia who are tied at second with 31 points each.

K’Ogalo can however cut the lead to just three points if they win their fixture against another relegation favorites City Stars.

The Coach Paul Nkata team pilled early pressure on the hosts, but they fizzed out as Batoto Ba Mungu regained control.

Mike Khamati and Noah Wafula all had their moments with Sofapaka keeper Mathias Kigonya, with the Ugandan coming tops in each occasion.

Tired of the constant raids from Tusker,Coach David Ouma charges ventured forward, and were rewarded a minute to the half hour mark when deadball specialist Noah delivered a calculated free kick which vintage Moses Odhiambo nodded in for the opener.

The scoreline stayed 1-0 in favor of the 2009 champions as the tie headed into the breather.

Nkata made a tactical move pulling out injured defender Eugene Asike for veteran striker Allan Wanga paying off immediately as Tusker pinned Sofapaka into their half.

A minute to the hour mark, Tusker leveled, thanks to a poor clearance of Osborne Monday’s many corner kicks, that full back Shaffik Batambuze drilled home close range.

Buoyed by the goal, Tusker were tails up in search of the winner but Sofapaka stood tall to pick a point.

Sofapaka remains rooted at the bottom of the log with ten points.
